Today we present the inaugural Rodney Harrison Memorial Weekly Award for Feats in Pants-wearingness for the week of October 10, 2009. The RHMWAFFIPW is awarded to that individual who in the prior week has acted most in accordance to the high standards of not being Tom Brady. This can be described as excellence in badassery, not skirt wearing and by extension successful pants-wearingship. The winner will receive the prestigious Dockers Trophy:
We proudly award the inaugural edition of the RHMWAFFIPW to Cincinnati Bengals’ wide receiver Chad Ochocinco for his reaction to a vicious hit from Uncle Ray Ray. In the process of going over the middle, Ochocinco was overthrown and left defenseless, taking to his head a helmet that happened to be attached to 250 pounds of some of the meanest linebacker in NFL history, knocking his helmet a solid 20 yards toward the sideline. A lesser man would have pranced about begging for a flag. Chad did not. He literally bounced back up off the ground and informed Uncle Ray Ray that he was indeed not impressed. He went on to post a twitpic of his swollen eye, and then incredibly, told the NFL not to fine Lewis. His reaction has demonstrated excellence in all of the major areas that the RHMWAFFIPW is designed to honor. For contrast, here are two videos that show how a pants-wearer plays football, and how a skirt-wearer plays football. I trust the reader can discern which is which.
Although technically unrelated to the RHMWAFFIPW judging, Mr. Ochocinco deserves recognition for a number of actions over the previous week that demonstrate why he is an exemplary human being, and an all time favorite of this blog’s proprietors. Today, Chad offered to pay for a movie for 40 fans, and is reported to have purchased Bengals tickets to help avoid a TV blackout. Previously via Twitter, Ochocinco bought dinner for 20 fans, and offered to buy video games for anyone that showed up at his local Gamespot. On earlier this month on PTI he offered to match any fines he incurred for celebrations with donations to breast cancer research. I better never hear another TV analyst speak ill of this guy ever again. Well done Chad. There is no one more deserving of the first Dockers Trophy.
Chad Ochocinco is at the Pants Party. When are you getting here, Tom Brady?

I couldn’t ask for a more fitting inagural RHMWAFFIPW winner. Could you imagine if Tom Brady took that hit? He wouldn’t just be asking Goodell for a fine, he would be lobbying the UN General Assembly for sanctions

It’s going to be difficult not nominating every week. Ocho is a true American hero.
